Dual Brushless (BLDC) motor controller with CAN interface, Hall sensors, Brakes and Encoder inputs.

The QuimEC is an electronic board designed to control two sensored Brushless DC (BLDC) motors or also called “EC”, for Electronically Commutated motors. It includes both the power electronic driving the motors, and the digital electronic integrating a micro-controller that embed the control system. The QuimEC can operate in 2 ways, as standalone mode, in which the product is used independently in a particular application or as an integrated mode in which the QuimEC is plugged into a QuimBox to offer a more integrated and complete solution for robots or mechatronics systems (see www.quimesis.be for more information).

The controller uses information from Hall sensor to power on the three winding’s motor in order to rotate the motor. These sensors and the encoders inputs are also used to compute the speed and the traveled distance, so the motors can be controlled with a precise position or speed in open or closed loop regulation. The controller sense also the instantaneous current of both motors in order to protect or control them with a desired torque.

Using CAN bus or serial-to-USB interface, the controller receives commands from the user to define different parameters or orders.
